Bi-Directional Multi-Format HD Converters Introduced at NAB Show

Las Vegas, NV – April 24, 2006 – Roland Systems Group U.S. demonstrated their new lineup of EDIROL Media Converters. The new series of media converters, due to ship later this year, come in two classes.

VC class - offering bi-directional HD/HDV/DV media conversion (Models VC-200HD and VC-300HD)
DVI class - offering DVI to HD Video /Audio Breakout (Models DVI-200HD ad DVI-300HD)

The VC-200/300HD delivers bi-directional conversion between component HD, HDV/DV, and with the VC-300HD model, HD/SD-SDI. Also, the VC line provides audio delay adjustments in millisecond or frame increments for lip/audio sync with the video source as well as in/out sync terminals allowing GEN lock with external devices. The VC-300HD adds the ability to embed the audio in the HD/SD-SDI stream. EDIROL is one of the first product lines to offer real-time encoding and conversion between any analog, HDV/DV or SDI source.

“The VC line extends the functionality of every HDV product out there,” says John Broadhead, director of technology with Roland Systems Group U.S. “With the media converters, any HDV camera or deck can function as a record source from analog sources.” The DVI-200/300HD models supports bi-directional conversion of a video signal from various DVI formats to various output formats and resolutions including 1080p component & DVI well as RGB formats from VGA to UXGA. In addition, the DV-300HD model allows output at HD/SD-SDI rates with the ability to embed the audio stream.

The DVI-200/300HD series works effectively with the new EDIROL PR-1000HD Multi-Format HD/RGB Video Presenter allowing the PR-1000HD’s DVI output of video playback to be converted to alternative output formats such as Component HD and HD-SDI.
